For one week, I took over the Grand Wailea’s Instagram account by posting a few images each day of our amazing stay at the luxurious resort on the south side of Maui. Jon, Kieran, Ronan and I experienced a phenomenal family vacation that included tons of fun and relaxation in paradise.
Vacationing with children is wonderful, but it’s important to get a little “me” time. Fortunately, the Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Resort caters to guests of all ages with amenities like the award-winning Spa Grande and the 20,000-square foot children’s center called The Rock. Raising two boys, ages 6 and 4, takes every ounce of energy and patience and Jon and I were ready to relax. As soon as we checked into our suite at the Napua Tower, I surprised Jon with the news that he had an appointment at Spa Grande for a massage. In the following days, I made sure to slip away and experience the Spa Grande; voted “Top 10 Spas in the United States” by Condé Nast Traveler and Travel & Leisure magazines.
The spa is amazing. If you are even near the Grand Wailea you must….I repeat…you must experience the Spa Grande. Each treatment includes the Terme’ Hydrotherapy Circuit featuring a Roman tub, saunas, cascading waterfalls, Swiss jet showers, a Japanese furo and five specialty baths. I chose to relax with the Pohaku (stone) massage where hot stones dipped in oil are used as an extension to the skilled massage therapist’s hands.
I came up with a fun “Pin-Up Girl Makeover” where I had an anti-aging facial, mani-pedi and hair and make-up all done by talented technicians. We headed down to the beach for sunset and Jon snapped a few photos of me and the boys as they serenaded to me on their new Kala Brand Music shark ukuleles from the resort’s Wailea Gift Shop. It was music to mommy’s ears and a memory I will cherish for ever.
